Below is my itinerary from my 10 day trip to Thailand along with Do’s, Don’ts & Tips!
I booked everything through Expedia. I found it was the cheapest compared to its competition & made it easier since I could book in USD & not Thai Baht.
Air: explore CheapOAir, Expedia & Hopper for the cheapest flight options. I highly suggest Eva Air. The food isn’t the best (pack a ton of snacks) however when is airplane actually good? The service is great, good amount of leg room & movie options.
Bangkok: Lebua State Tower. The views at this hotel are INSANE. Make sure you make reservations for the restaurants BEFORE getting there as it sells out quick. Tip: say you want to get a drink at the bar, go up, capture the views then say you changed your mind (if you decide not to spend the money & enjoy a cold one). Definitely go check out the markets & Chinatown – go by Tuk Tuk. The smells are not the best so be prepared for that. Bargain away here! Oh & try some tasty bugs haha. Be careful if you’re a female, taxi drivers will try to over charge you sometimes by twice the amount. If they can’t communicate with you, ask your hotel to. Thats what we did. We also enjoyed a Cabaret show – very old fashion but good to see! WARNING: temples are very crowded so please, if you have anxiety, prepare yourself. We got there by the water boat (very cheap for a full day pass so you can get off and on). Check out the hidden monks trail. Beautiful & secret!
Chiang Mai: Chai De Deco – FREE BREAKFAST!! This hidden gem was my favorite of them all. They helped us book tours including our Elephant Jungle Sanctuary (highlight of my trip!) Red Taxi’s are your go to here! Check out the sunday night market!
Phuket: Amari Resort – stunning, breathtaking, can I say more? The free breakfast is buffet style to a 10. The hotel is worth the money. Gorgeous pools, private beach, beautiful rooms, great food, perfect location (not noisy either!). Enjoyed Bangla Street, exploring & just soaking up the sun. Not too many touristy excursions worth doing here. Better off just enjoying the day relaxing. Also stayed at Wyndham Resort. We got the private pool villa & its a sanctuary of its own. You have to taxi to get down the hill into Phuket but they off free shuttles.
Phi Phi – Harbor View right off the Ferry, on the beach. This hotel has a pool right outside of your sliding glass door. The free breakfast isn’t good though so go enjoy some local restaurants instead. MUST: island hopping tour. I HIGHLY recommend renting a private long boat driver. Ours was the cutest old man. Take some nausea medicine! Make sure you get off the boat in the clear waters & just take it all in.
Food: Make sure you take pepto, digestive enzymes & tums. These helped us so much. Foreign foods can lead to bloating, uneasy stomach & constipation (or diarrhea – never just normal haha).
Money: I was able to make $500 USD & a few extra on my credit card last the whole 10 day trip for excursions & food. Please note: I did not eat the street food where you can find the cheapest food options. I ate at mostly cafe’s & restaurants.
